Sen. Daniels Shines for Business in Northeast Oklahoma

The State Chamber of Oklahoma is traveling the state, visiting members, and presenting its Business All-Star Awards to legislators who received perfect scores in the 2023 RIED Report.

The Research Institute for Economic Development (RIED) Report, released annually by the State Chamber Research Foundation, scores each state legislator’s individual voting record on bills related to business, industrial development, job creation, and economic growth issues. Each legislator is graded with respect to his or her vote on each bill. This year’s report gave 45 legislators perfect scores for their pro-business growth voting record.

Sen. Julie Daniels received a perfect score in the 2023 RIED Report. The State Chamber visited its valued member, Phillips 66, where the Republican from Bartlesville was presented with the award at their company museum. Daniels said business growth is essential to Oklahoma’s future success and prosperity.

“It’s very natural for me to want to be pro-growth and pro free enterprise and make sure that we support the growth of employers. The more employers we have, the more employees we have, the more residents we have means the more economic prosperity we generate for everyone living in Oklahoma,” said Sen. Daniels. “So, to me, it’s a natural fit to want to vote pro-growth and to follow very carefully the things that are important to the State Chamber, some of whose members are employers in my district.”

“For years, The State Chamber, the community of Bartlesville, and the Phillips 66 company have been partners in pulling on the same rope for the pro-business climate and the promotion of the state of Oklahoma,” said Scott Bilger, manager of State Government Affairs for Phillips 66. “Having an elected official, a senator from this area, that’s always willing to listen, always willing to engage in discussions and look for ways to come up with common sense solutions is just crucial to that effort.”

Oklahoma’s business community has relied upon The RIED Report for a quarter century, trusting its evaluation of business, workforce, and economic growth legislation voted on at the State Capitol, as well as its rating of the legislators casting the votes.
