Rep. Boatman Shines for Business in Northeast Oklahoma

The State Chamber of Oklahoma is traveling the state, visiting members, and presenting its Business All-Star Awards to legislators who received perfect scores in the 2023 RIED Report.

The Research Institute for Economic Development (RIED) Report, released annually by the State Chamber Research Foundation, scores each state legislator’s individual voting record on bills related to business, industrial development, job creation, and economic growth issues. Each legislator is graded with respect to his or her vote on each bill. This year’s report gave 45 legislators perfect scores for their pro-business growth voting record.

Rep. Jeff Boatman, R-Tulsa, received a perfect score in the 2023 RIED Report. The State Chamber visited its valued member, Hillcrest HealthCare System, where the Republican from Tulsa was present with the award. Boatman said business growth is essential to Oklahoma’s growing success and prosperity.

“Growth is critical for us as a state. We’ve absolutely got to grow our workforce, grow our population, and continue to advance Oklahoma forward. It’s critical. Coming from a business background, you always think about the bottom line,” said Rep. Boatman. “So, any time I look at a bill, that’s one of the first things I think about. What’s this going to do to either advance or pull us back from a growth standpoint.”

“The State Chamber of Oklahoma is all about representing businesses; a wide variety of businesses across the state,” said Kevin Gross, president of Hillcrest HealthCare System. “In the RIED Report, there are 45 legislators in this past session that got a perfect score. One of them is Rep. Jeff Boatman. Rep. Boatman is really pro-business and pro-growth for our agenda.”

Oklahoma’s business community has relied upon The RIED Report for a quarter century, trusting its evaluation of business, workforce, and economic growth legislation voted on at the State Capitol, as well as its rating of the legislators casting the votes.
