Oklahoma Competes: New Aluminum Agreement Propels Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Growth

Oklahoma City, OK (Feb, 25, 2026) – The recent agreement between U.S. Aluminum Company, EGA, and Century Aluminum to establish a fabrication plant in Inola is a prime example of Oklahoma Competes in action. This project, anchored by the Plotkin family’s U.S. Aluminum Company, born from the legacy of M-D Building Products, demonstrates how major industrial investments attract new, homegrown manufacturers and create a multiplier effect across the supply chain.

“This announcement highlights exactly the type of advanced manufacturing Oklahoma must recruit, grow, and win,” Chad Warmington, President & CEO of The State Chamber of Oklahoma, said. “Aluminum is foundational to aerospace, defense, automotive, and next-generation manufacturing, industries where Oklahoma has a real opportunity to lead. The Plotkin family and M-D Building Products represent the kind of Oklahoma-based innovators who see opportunity and build around it. When a transformational project like this smelter takes shape, it creates the conditions for new facilities, new jobs, and entirely new industry clusters to grow. That is Oklahoma Competes in action.”

“Having the Plotkin family and M-D Building Products involved brings immediate credibility to this project. The potential of this partnership to grow advanced manufacturing in Oklahoma is significant,” said Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton, leader of the Oklahoma State Senate. “This is exactly the kind of downstream investment we hoped to see when we passed legislation supporting the aluminum smelter. I applaud the State Chamber and the partners working to help build a stronger manufacturing future for our state.”

The development of an aluminum hub in Oklahoma strengthens domestic supply chains, supports national security priorities, and positions the state for significant growth in aerospace and advanced manufacturing. It is also a clear signal that Oklahoma is serious about building the infrastructure, workforce, and business climate needed to attract and scale the industries of the future.

As Oklahoma Competes continues to focus on advanced industry growth, projects like this demonstrate how strategic investment, strong partnerships, and homegrown leadership can accelerate economic momentum and create long-term opportunity for Oklahomans.
