Payroll Specialist

Status: Full-Time / Exempt

Shift: Days

Description:
To accurately process payrolls for all full-time/part-time District employees and manage the District timekeeping and leave system while maintaining accurate and reliable records.

Essential Functions:
1. Process pertinent financial information for the District ensuring correct outcomes through accurately implementing District procedures, including:
• Payroll for all full-time and part-time employees
• Reconcile and verify all insurance billings are submitted with supporting documentation.
• All garnishments, child support, tax levies, etc.
2. Administer the District timekeeping and leave system.
3. Coordinate with all Stakeholders required information and develop reports for various leave and timekeeping requirements.
4. File employee payroll information and monthly State and Federal reports in accordance with legal filing requirements.
5. Review and evaluate sick, vacation, personal business, sub-deduct and other leave for special circumstances to ensure compliance with District Policy.
6. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions regarding the provisions of services to internal and external customer and in day-to-day operations of the payroll and associated areas. Interpret and resolves issues as needed, represent the Finance Office and District in a professional manner to all.
7. Perform all other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.

Job Requirements:

• This job requires a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in payroll, utilizing financial accounting skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and payroll/timekeeping guides to specific district operations.
• Knowledge of school and /or financial accounting processes.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Education:
Associate’s degree or higher with finance/accounting emphasis preferred.

Salary Schedule:
SPMS

Hiring Range:
$43,180 to $54,670 annually, dependent on experience, plus additional $9,000 annual compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
