Food Service Associate – Childrens Learning Lab (10-Month Contract)
Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Note: This position is a 10-Month Work Contract, working August – May of the school year.
Description:
The Food Service Associate is responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up nutritious meals and snacks for children according to approved menus and dietary guidelines. The associate ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment and supports the overall mission of the childcare center in promoting children’s health and well-being.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to planned menus and portion sizes, nutrition program guidelines.
Serve food to children’s classrooms during designated food serving times in a friendly, courteous, and responsive manner.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and properly storing food.
Maintain inventory and order supplies and food with approved vendors.
Assemble, operate, disassemble, and clean food service equipment in accordance with operating procedures and safety process requirements.
Order, receive, label, and store food and supplies according to health and safety standards.
Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations, including allergy precautions and cross-contamination protocols.
Provide daily assistance in the kitchen to the high school students in the Early Care & Education program.
Maintain required departmental records regarding supplies ordered, adjustments to recipes, and proper accounting for food quantities and food service supplies utilized.
Maintain childcare center laundry daily.
Participate in departmental activities planned for the children and their families.
Attend staff meetings, workshops, conferences, and all in-service training required to meet state standards.
Perform tasks and duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities assigned by supervision and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure, regulation and other communicated requirements effect for the workgroup or worksite.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a minimum of one year of experience in school food service, cafeteria, or other food service establishment.
Must have or be willing to obtain Tulsa City County Food Handlers permit.
Food Service Manager Certificate must be obtained within 90 days of employment
CPR and First Aid must be obtained within the first six months of employment
Knowledge of food preparation
Knowledge of food preparation safety and health standards and procedures
Basic computer and math skills
Knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program
Bilingual is a plus
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Hiring Range:
$13.75 to $16.08 per hour, (10 month position working August – May) plus $750 additional compensation monthly for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
