Public Affairs Forum

The State Chamber’s Public Affairs Forum ignites fresh thinking and innovation for today’s Oklahoma business leaders. Join us for our inaugural “TED Talk” style event featuring businesses showing the future of some of the highest profile industries in our nation, such as computer technology, film and TV production, and aviation.

Legislative leaders will also give us a sneak peek into the 2023 hot topics and how they will affect your bottom line. And finally, we will share our 2023 agenda initiatives and how Oklahoma’s current economic competitive positions are impacting growth and prosperity in our state.

The Public Affairs Forum will feature three esteemed innovators. All three will discuss restructuring educational pathways to provide students specialized training in technological fields that will invigorate Oklahoma’s workforce.

This year’s PAF will have a “TED Talk” style presentation designed to inspire and engage while providing essential information to business leaders. Matt Payne, Rick Nagel and Jason Battles will speak during the presentation, which brings together multiple elements into stories that illuminate the issues and industries that are changing business in Oklahoma.

Matt Payne

Matt Payne is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, writer, photographer and educator based in Oklahoma City. Payne worked as a writer on CBS’s “Vegas,” “Without a Trace” and “The Defenders” during a 15-year stint in Los Angeles. He moved back to Oklahoma City in 2015 and has since taken a key role in Oklahoma’s film community, producing documentaries for Griffin Communications and the OETA Foundation, as well as teaching film business and screenwriting at Oklahoma City University, among other things.

Rick Nagel

Rick Nagel is managing partner of Acorn Growth Companies, an aerospace and defense investment and buyout group. Nagel leads the firm’s strategic direction and its portfolio assets. He is a member of the Board of Governors for the Aerospace Industries Association, the Oklahoma Aerospace Association and the U.S. Air Force Association. He serves on the Board of Directors for the State Chamber of Oklahoma and is a regent at the University of Oklahoma.

Jason Battles

Jason Battles is a field CTO for Dell, focused on implementing transformational solutions for state governments, defense contractors and web-scale companies.  Jason has over 27 years of experience as a technology leader and worked most recently with General Atomics, Viasat, Twilio, Roblox and state governments in California, New Mexico and Arizona. He is a chief architect and board member for several technical startups.  His experience spans application development, data analytics, enterprise infrastructure, cloud operating models, security and telecommunications. He developed and deployed solutions that increased revenue and improved margins. He transformed organizations with geo-spatial inspection platforms, global contact centers, video distribution networks, financial planning software and predictive machine learning models. Jason currently lives in Tulsa and leads multiple application development organizations.
