Faculty Support Coordinator

Essential Function
Serve as a member of a field team coordinating new teacher support at designated Oklahoma middle and high school sites. The intervention activities are associated with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s (OSRHE) GEAR UP project – a federally funded initiative aimed at student early awareness and readiness for college. The GEAR UP project serves all students including people of color, people from low income backgrounds and first-generation college students.

This position will serve schools located in designated service area. *

Responsibilities and Duties
· Serve as an instructional coach for alternative certified and new teachers who take part in the On Point GEAR UP training.
· Organize and manage the On Point training for alternative certified, emergency certified and new teachers in GEAR UP districts. This includes training through outside partners and weekly meeting with individual OnPoint participants.
· Work with GEAR UP Site Director to support the mission of GEAR UP in local districts.
· Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with GEAR UP and OSRHE staff.
· Participate in professional development selected to stay abreast of educational research and developments in K-12 school s and best practices for classrooms.
· Maintain confidentiality regarding student, school and fiscal data.
· Extensive travel to varying locations in Oklahoma is required. Both in-state and out-of-state travel is required with overnight stay expected.
· Support the mission of GEAR UP with additional duties as needed to fulfill the grant goals.
· Daily attendance and punctuality at work are required.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline with five (5) or more years of relevant experience is required for this position. Knowledge of K-12 and higher education programs and issues is important. Candidate must demonstrate ability to use independent judgment. Candidate must have a high level of experience in the instructional coaching of classroom teachers. Candidate must have the ability to work independently with excellent organization, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with time lines and deadlines. Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment as a member and a leader. Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style and high ethical standards. Embrace feedback and constructive criticism in the spirit of constant improvement. Successful candidate must provide a cellular telephone for work-related activities and have the ability to drive a state-owned vehicle to various worksites. A valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates that possess a current Oklahoma teaching certification and hold a master’s degree in secondary curriculum.

Supervision
The employee performs work under the supervision of the Internal Evaluator.

Work Hours
Agency offices are open to the public from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday. These are the normal office hours for Agency employees.

Physical Demands
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels, with or without aids. Ability to communicate clearly. Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach. Must use the proper manual handling equipment including but not limited to dollies, carts and lift team members. Duties are normally performed in a class room environment with a moderate noise level.
