Hilbert Shines for Business in Northeast Oklahoma
The State Chamber of Oklahoma is traveling the state, visiting members, and presenting its Business All-Star Awards to legislators who received perfect scores in the 2023 RIED Report.
The Research Institute for Economic Development (RIED) Report, released annually by the State Chamber Research Foundation, scores each state legislator’s individual voting record on bills related to business, industrial development, job creation, and economic growth issues. Each legislator is graded with respect to his or her vote on each bill. This year’s report gave 45 legislators perfect scores for their pro-business growth voting record.
Speaker Pro Tempore Kyle Hilbert received a perfect score in the 2023 RIED Report. The State Chamber visited its valued member, WEBCO, where the Republican from Bristow was presented with the award at their Sapulpa headquarters. Hilbert said business growth is essential to Oklahoma’s future success and prosperity.
“There are states that are enacting crazy policies that are anti-business. That is actually voting against your constituents, who are looking for jobs and opportunities. They want to have good careers, that provide for their family with growth opportunities, said Hilbert. “When you vote against business, vote against your constituents, don’t be surprised when those constituents decide to move elsewhere. That’s why Oklahoma is one of the top ten states in the country, in in-migration from other states. We’re enacting pro-growth, pro-business legislation here in Oklahoma that people want to come to.”
“Some of the important, foundational things that we do, as a state, is have legislation and regulations that are pro-business, pro-industry and pro-manufacturing,” said Dana Weber, CEO of WEBCO Industries, Inc. “Legislators like Representative Hilbert, consistently support legislation that helps new and existing businesses maintain their strength, their ability to grow, and to hire employees. It makes a huge difference. It sets us up well as a state to compete with other states for these really good jobs and good companies.”
Oklahoma’s business community has relied upon The RIED Report for a quarter century, trusting its evaluation of business, workforce, and economic growth legislation voted on at the State Capitol, as well as its rating of the legislators casting the votes.
