The State Chamber of Oklahoma is traveling the state, visiting members, and presenting its Business All-Star Awards to legislators who received perfect scores in the 2023 RIED Report.

The Research Institute for Economic Development (RIED) Report, released annually by the State Chamber Research Foundation, scores each state legislator’s individual voting record on bills related to business, industrial development, job creation, and economic growth issues. Each legislator is graded with respect to his or her vote on each bill. This year’s report gave 45 legislators perfect scores for their pro-business growth voting record.

Sen. Greg Treat, R-NW Oklahoma City, received a perfect score in the 2023 RIED Report. The State Chamber recently visited its valued member, Mercy Health, where the Oklahoma Senate Pro Tem was present with the award. Treat said business growth is essential to Oklahoma’s growing success and prosperity.

“I have spent my career in the Senate as an ardent pro-business advocate,” said Pro Tem Treat. “Hospitals like Mercy are a major employer that is also a part of the fabric of our community. We want hospitals like this and other businesses in our communities to be able to thrive for the betterment of our state now and in the future. They bring good jobs and do important work for Oklahomans. Likewise, I appreciate The State Chamber for their work in ensuring a prosperous future for Mercy and all of the other businesses across the state.”

“You know, it’s so, so important that we have leadership in our state that’s pro-growth for our economy, for jobs in the state and for health. Pro-health is pro-economy, and that’s obviously pro-business. Sen. Treat is a levelheaded leader,” said Jim Gebhart, president of Mercy Oklahoma. “From this award, you’ll see that he’s also very active on the pro-business front.”

Oklahoma’s business community has relied upon The RIED Report for a quarter century, trusting its evaluation of business, workforce, and economic growth legislation voted on at the State Capitol, as well as its rating of the legislators casting the votes.
