The State Chamber Responds to State of the State
OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 6, 2023) – The State Chamber is eager to get to work on top priorities for the business community this year at the state Capitol. The Chamber was encouraged by numerous points Gov. Kevin Stitt made today in his State of the State address that are reflected in its 2023 Agenda.
“The governor’s goals for the year ahead are clearly pro-economic freedom, pro-growth and pro-business. We are excited to get to work with the governor and the legislature to keep the economy moving and get people back to work,” said Chad Warmington, president and CEO of The State Chamber.
“The governor’s comments about workforce being the number one challenge for business is the stark reality for many business owners. His executive order earlier this month, and the legislature’s commitment to solving this problem, show we have leaders who are committed to finding solutions this year. The time to solve this problem is now, and we couldn’t be more excited about the momentum.”
“We also love the fact the governor is talking about lowering the income tax rate. We know when it comes to taxes, you don’t have to be at zero to be competitive,” said Warmington. “If we lower the rate and modernize some of our business taxes, we could have one of the most competitive tax codes in the country, let alone the region.”
