Economic Development

Purpose

Monitor and analyze tax and economic development issues and legislation and their impact on Oklahoma businesses.

2026 Policy Positions

  1. Strengthen Oklahoma’s residential and/or commercial development environment and protect the rights of property owners against capricious or arbitrary local government actions. 
  2. Oppose absolute moratoriums on development of business or industry.  
  3. Protect against mandates on food manufacturers to label or stop producing food items based on their ingredients.  Defer to federal guidelines for science-based, uniform policy across the country.   
  4. Support efforts to keep Oklahoma’s General Corporation and Limited Liability Company Acts current with developments from leading corporate law states like Delaware and Texas.  
  5. Support policies that strengthen Oklahoma’s state banking and financial services framework to ensure competitiveness and predictability.  
  6. Recognize and support state-chartered financial institutions and payment systems as essential economic infrastructure.  
  7. Protect efforts and support funding to identify and expand valuable economic development incentives and the Incentive Evaluation Commission. 
  8. Support tax policy that encourages business growth, certainty, and procedural fairness when interacting with the Oklahoma Tax Commission.  
  9. Oppose tax policy, including fees and assessments, which are harmful to business.  
  10. Ensure government does not use public funds to offer retail or commercial services directly competing against private industry. 
  11. Support investment in the Progressing Rural Economic Prosperity (PREP) Fund. 
  12. Support policy protecting consumer data, while preserving a business’ ability to innovate under a uniform standard among states on data practices. 
  13. Support an environment that both safeguards our fundamental rights and catalyzes the innovation, development, and adoption of Artificial Intelligence while encouraging a uniform standard. 
  14. Oppose redirection of fees and funds derived for specific purposes to general revenue. 
  15. Support business protections and property owners’ rights regarding possession of weapons. 
  16. Support efforts to increase the number of healthcare providers and services in Oklahoma to reduce gaps throughout the system. 
  17. Oppose duplicative regulations on international commerce.
